The method of discharge has been changed due to a High Court ruling, meaning trucks must now be loaded in a barge and the clinker unloaded into the trucks onboard said barge. Fiji: clinker shipment from China15 September 2016, Published under Cement NewsA cargo vessel has docked at the Kings Wharf, Suva, bringing in clinker for Tengy Cement from China. The vessel is expected to remain in the port for 7-8 days. According to Vafo-ou Villiame of Carpenters Shipping, “the vessel will be unloading cement clinker for the new cement factory", as reported local news source, The Fiji Sun. Fiji: Pacific Cement sales rise 19%28 July 2016, Published under Cement NewsFijian manufacturer Pacific Cement has announced that over the past 12 months it has sold 150,561t of cement, of which 104,000 was consumed domestically, according to the Fiji Times. This represents an increase over the preceding 12 months of about 19 per cent. Pacific Cement exports to destinations in the South Pacific, including Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Tarawa, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Wallis and Futuna, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. |
