Penden Cement Authority suffers dust emission release

Residents of Gomtu town in Samtse, Bhutan, say dust particles from the Penden Cement Authority Ltd's (PCAL) plant have been causing pollution.  Residents reported thick dust particles emitted from the plant during the lockdown. A complaint was lodged to the PCAL management. Stocks of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose 9.8 per cent after the company announced it will be entering the aggregate business. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh commenced commercial production of clear-size-graded aggregate last Saturday, the company said in a filing on the DSE. Shiva Cement receives approval for 1.32Mta project

India’s Shiva Cement (JSW Cement) has now received approval from the state government of Odisha to add 1.32Mta of clinker capacity and 1.05Mta of cement production capacity in the form of a new facility in the Sundargarh district. The project, worth INR15.23bn (US$207.88m), received clearance during a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting on Wednesday.

NCL Industries sees 50% rise in production

India’s NCL Industries has announced a 49.5 per cent YoY increase in cement production to 632,746t in the third quarter of the FY20-21, rising from 423,199t in the year-ago period. Cement dispatches also climbed 45.1 per cent YoY to 625,162t from 430,861t in the 3QFY19-20.

Dandot Cement Co announces 81% fall in net sales

Pakistan’s Dandot Cement Co has announced an 81.4 per cent YoY fall in net sales to PKR296m (US$1.84m) for the year ended 30 June 2020, compared to PKR1.59bn in the previous year.  The company also reported a loss after tax of PKR695m against a PKR624.5m profit in the FY18-19.

ACC Ltd starts brownfield expansion of Sindri cement plant

The cement industry in Pakistan kicked off the FY20-21 on an exciting note. During the first six months of the current fiscal year, total cement dispatches grew by 15.7 per cent, from 24.751Mt in July-December 2019, to 28.628Mt in July-December 2020. Local dispatches have increased by 15.9 per cent in July-December 2020 to 23.61Mt from 20.373Mt in July-December 2019. Coal prices force up cement hikes in northern Pakistan

Persistent price hikes for cement in nothern Pakistan have resulted from higher coal prices. Adani Cementation has been authorised by the state environment ministry to build a captive jetty in Raigad district, India. The new jetty will supply the company’s planned cement plant, near Shahbaj village, in Alibag taluka. The proposed site consists of a berth head, conveyor line and mooring facilities.
