PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, part of the HeidelbergCement Group, has outlined several expansion project which will lift the producer’s cement capacity to the 30Mt mark by 2017. Indocement to invest in new factory, Indonesia

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, part of the HeidelbergCement Group, is set to construct a new cement factory in Citereup, West Java, according to local press reports. Asia in Focus has reported that the company is investing US$440m in the new facility. Corporate secretary Sahat Pangabena, however, refused to give details about the plan, saying Indocement will announce details later this month.

China-based Anhui Conch Cement said it plans to begin construction of a new cement plant in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, later this year. Indonesian February consumption rises 23.9%

Indonesia’s domestic sales rose 23.9 per cent YoY in February 2012, according to figures from PT Semen Gresik. February sales reached 4.1Mt, slightly higher than the 4.06Mt achieved in January. Indonesia has enjoyed one of the world’s highest growth rates of cement demand in recent years. Sales in 2011 were up 17 per cent YoY to 47.9Mt and looking forward, growth is expected to continue in 2012 as the country aims to meet ambitious housing and infrastructure needs.
