Cameroon: new Cimencam plant by 2018

Société les Cimenteries du Cameroun (Cimencam) announced that the commissioning of its new Nomayos cement plant is scheduled for mid-2018. The new grinding unit will boast an installed capacity of 2Mta and is expected to cost XAF23bn (US$38.5m). The project, which was originally announced in 2011, will benefit from 5-10 years of tax and customs duties exemptions, as per an agreement signed in May between Cimencam and the State of Cameroon. LafargeHolcim continues African expansion

Following the acquisition of Socimat in Côte d’Ivoire last July, LafargeHolcim Maroc Afrique (LHMA) continues its regional expansion. LHMA, a joint venture between Morocco’s Société Nationale d’Investissement (SNI) and LafargeHolcim, will buy back 50 per cent of the capital of SCB Lafarge in Benin and 54.7 per cent of Cimencam in Cameroon, according to Afrique Expansion.
