LafargeHolcim has been awarded with a key contract in the US$550m renovation of the Afsluitdijk, the Dutch iconic sea defense structure. Lafarge Zimbabwe has appointed a new CEO to lead the company as it fights to maintain its market share following a rise in imports and increasing competition from domestic rivals. Kaziwe Siame Kaulule will replace Amal Naiel, who left Lafarge Zimbabwe “to pursue other personal interests” after being in charge of the company for five years. Nassef Sawiris reduces stake in LafargeHolcim

One of LafargeHolcim’s biggest shareholders, Nassef Sawiris, reduced his stake in the company by nearly 1.6m shares in December 2018. The shares had a value of over CHF66m (US$67.5m), according to a report by Handelszeitung. Mr Sawiris now holds just under 21m shares in the company, representing just over three per cent. He was once the third-largest shareholder behind Thomas Schmidheiny and Belgium’s Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL).

Ciment Lafarge Souakri (CILAS) carried out it first export operation of 35,000t of clinker from Algeria’s Annaba port to west Africa. The shipment is part of LafargeHolcim Algeria’s drive to export more than 2Mt of product in 2020. The Board of Directors of Ambuja Cements Ltd (LafargeHolcim group) has approved an initial investment of INR3,900m (US$54.1m) for the first phase of the 1.7Mta greenfield clinker line project at Marwar Mundwa in the State of Rajasthan, India.

LafargeHolcim Guinea orders mobile grinding plant

CBMI has signed an EPC contract to build a modular mobile grinding plant for LafargeHolcim Ciments de Guinea. The grinding plant will be located at Dubréka town, 80km from the port of Conakry. LafargeHolcim Ciments de Guinea currently has a 70 per cent share of the local market in Guinea.
