Lhoist North America starts up new lime kin

Lhoist North America and Maerz Ofenbau AG have started up a new lime kiln in Montevallo, USA. The Maerz R4S type PFR kiln has a nominal production rate of 600tpd of soft-burned lime.  Lhoist North America is also expanding its dolomitic quicklime production at Marble Falls, Texas, as well as a new lime kiln at its New Braunfels, Texas facility.

US-based Continental Cement Co (Summit Materials) has announced a price increase for customers served by its Louisiana and Memphis terminals. As a result of increasing industry operating and logistics costs, the company is increasing cement prices by US$6/st. Delivered prices will be adjusted at the time of shipment to reflect any increases in freight rates, fuel surcharges and/or taxes, according to a statement.

US shipments see 16% uptick in March

Total shipments for Portland and blended cement, including imports in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 16 per cent YoY to 9Mt in March 2021, reports the US Geological Survey (USGS).
