Lucky Cement reports consolidated earnings of PKR28.2bn for FY21

Pakistan-based Lucky Cement Ltd reported a consolidated profit after tax of PKR28.23bn (US$172.46m) against PKR 7.1317bn in the previous fiscal year. Pakistan’s cement sector posted a robust YoY growth of 12.73 per cent in June 2021, as total dispatches rose to 5.211Mt against 4.623Mt in June 2020. Pakistan's cement exports rise 5% YoY

Cement exports from Pakistan increased 4.6 per cent YoY during the first eleven months of FY20-21, rising to US$253.584m from US$242.505m, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). In terms of quantity, cement exports rose 13.3 per cent from 6,570,921t to 7,442,573t. In May 2021, cement exports advanced 47.8 per cent YoY to US$28.527m from US$19.302m in the year-ago period.

Bestway Cement commissions solar power plant

Pakistan’s Bestway Cement and Reon Energy Ltd commissioned a 14.3MW captive solar power project at the producer’s unit in Farooqia, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The plant is reportedly part of a 50MW project deal dispersed across Bestway’s four locations in Farooqia, Chakwal, Kallar Kahar and Hattar. The new solar power plant is expected to generate around 78,385MWh annually, which would cut around 1Mt of CO 2 equivalent emissions over the lifetime of the project.

Cherat Cement Co Ltd (CHCC) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange Ltd (PSX) that the Board of Directors of the company, in its meeting held on 24 June 2021, has approved a greenfield cement plant installation at DI Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan.
