Saudi: Yanbu first-quarter net profit edges ahead

Yanbu Cement Company posted a net profit of SAR207m (US$55.2m) in the three months to 31 March 2015, up one per cent from SAR205m a year earlier, the Saudi-based company said in a bourse statement. Dandot Cement Co reported a loss after tax of PKR342.24m (US$3.4m) in the first half of the current Pakistan fiscal compared to a loss of PKR 380.42m in the comparative period of the year before. Nigeria's Ashaka Cement 2014 pretax profit rose 84.5 per cent to NGN5.25bn (US$26m) from year ago, the company said on Tuesday. Revenue declined by 2.58 per cent during the period to NGN21.13bn, the unit of Lafarge Africa said in a statement.

Dangote Cement's pretax profit fell 3.2 per cent to NGN184.68bn (US$928m) last year due to a gas shortage and the impact of wet weather on construction activity, the company said on Thursday. Kenya's ARM Cement posted a pretax profit of KES2.02bn (US$22m) for 2014, up one per cent YoY. Nepal-based Hetauda Cement Industries Ltd (HCIL) reported an accumulated loss of US$6.42m at the end of its 2014 financial year. "We faced a loss of US$692,829 in 2011-12 and US$95,251 in 2012-13.
