Tvornica Cementa Kakanj first-half net profit increases

Bosnia-based Tvornica Cementa Kakanj (TCK) net profit rose by 6.25 per cent to BAM8.5m (EUR4.3m) in the first half of 2014 compared to BAM8m a year earlier, the company said on Friday. The HeidelbergCement group company said first-half operating income decreased by 1.5 per cent YoY to BAM31.9m while operating costs fell to BAM23.2m from BAM24.5m. TCK is based in Kakanj, in the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lafarge reiterates 2014 demand growth rate

Lafarge has confirmed its 2014 sales volumes target for the year with an improving US outlook and signs of recovery in Europe, although emerging markets continue to be the main driver of growth. ACC net profit down 7%, improving demand outlook

India’s second-largest cement producer, ACC, reported a seven per cent decline in profit for the second quarter of the year as operational costs continued to rise. However, improvements on the demand front were noted, a trend which the Holcim group company expects to continue. Peruvian producer Cementos Pacasmayo reported a 3.5 per cent increase in cement sales volumes for the first six months of the year, exceeding the national average of 0.84 per cent. Al Jouf Cement has posted a 16.4 per cent rise in second-quarter net profit following five consecutive quarterly declines. Siam City Cement Co (SCCC), Thailand's second-largest cement producer, posted a nine per cent YoY decline in 2Q14 net profit to THB1.47bn (US$46m) due to foreign exchange losses and declining equities revenue from associated companies. Preliminary first-half results for Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAK Cement) show that the UAE-based producer achieved a net profit of AED3.2m (US$871,198) compared to a loss of AED1.6m in the equivalent period of last year. Oman Cement Co (OCC) posted a 4.3 per cent rise in net profit before tax for the first six months of this year, despite a drop in sales. The sultanate’s second-largest cement producer by capacity reported a pretax profit of OMR9.9m (US$25.7m) during the period compared to OMR9.5m in 1H13. Sales in the first half of 2014 stood at OMR3.7m, down 5.9 per cent on the OMR27.3m seen in the comparative period of last year.
