ARM anticipates higher earnings growth

JK Cement is increasing capacity by 3Mta through two split-grinding units of 1.5Mta each in Haryana and Rajasthan in the northern region, lifting its grey cement capacity to 10.5Mta. Maple Leaf has reported a over a six-fold rise in annual net profit for FY13 driven in part by higher cement prices and lower coal costs. According to a notice sent by the company to the Karachi Stock Exchange, for the 12 months ended 30 June 2013, the company posted a profit of PKR3.23bn compared to PKR496m in the previous fiscal – a staggering increment of 550 per cent. Northern Pakistan-cement based cement producer Kohat Cement Co reported a 58.55 per cent YoY rise in FY13 net profit. For the July 2012-June 2013 fiscal, the company reported a profit after tax of PKR2.632bn (US$25.55m) against PKR1.66bn during the year before. Net sales increased to PKR11.297bn from PKR9.316bn in FY12. Pakistan-based Producer Kohat Cement reported a 59 per cent surge in net profit for FY12-13 mainly due to favourable cement and coal pricing trends as well as lower financial costs. Pakistan-based producer Lucky Cement reported a 47 per cent increase in full-year profit and is optimistic on the outlook for domestic consumption but cautions that challenges remain. Semen Indonesia reported a 16 per cent increase in cement sales for the first eight months of this year to 16Mt, as the country's largest producer sees market share increase on the back of new volumes. Steppe Cement Ltd posted an increased pretax profit during the first six months of the year of US$3.8m compared with US$391,000 a year earlier. Revenue rose to US$54.3m versus US$52.2m while operating income was up to US$6.2m versus US$3.2m. Tabuk Cement first-half net profit edges ahead

Saudi-based producer Tabuk Cement reported a net profit of SAR107m (US$28.5m) for the first half of 2013, up 1.04 per cent from the SAR105.9m in the same period of the year before. The company attributed the rise to cost rationalisation, but did not disclose any exact figures. Earnings per share stood at SAR1.19 almost unchanged SAR1.18m. Sinai Cement first-half profit declines, Egypt

Sinai Cement reported a 30 per cent YoY decline in net profit for the first six months of 2013. The Egypt-based cement producer said that net profit fell to EGP50,991,171 (US$7.4m) for the six months compared to EGP 73,140,215 (US$10.6m) for the same period of last year.
