Cement sales in Brazil for the first eight months of 2017 fell by eight per cent YoY to 35.7Mt, according to preliminary industry data gathered by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento (SNIC). Cement sales in Brazil in the 1H17 fell 8.8 per cent YoY as the domestic market required 26.015Mt of cement, according to Brazil’s cement association, Sindicato Nacional de la Industria del Cemento (SNIC). Brazilian cement sales totalled 3.9Mt in February, down 15.3 per cent YoY, according to the latest market data published by local cement association, SNIC. Jose Otavio Carneiro de Carvalho, president of Brazil's cement industry association SNIC, estimates the domestic market to decrease 12 per cent in 2016, while showing 61Mt over the June 2015-May 2016 period. Cement sales in Brazil over the first 11 months of the year increased by 2.5 per cent to 64.9Mt, latest data from local association SNIC, shows. During November 2013, preliminary data and market estimates put sales at 6Mt, an increase of 2.3 per cent YoY. For the 12 months between December 2012-November 2013, total sales reached 69.9Mt, representing a 2.2 per cent increase on the comparative period of the previous year (December 2011-November 2012).
