Consolidated results – which include the firm’s BMM subsidiary – show cement sales dropping by 0.4 per cent to 154,196t. The meeting will address proposals for setting up a coal-based power plant at the company’s unit in Mattampally, Nalgonda district, and the capacity expansion of the grinding unit in Bayyavaram, Visakhapatnam district. These show that sales at the company fell by 13.73 per cent to 0.665Mt in the period April-August 2016 when compared to those of a year earlier. Production also declined, but less severely, being down by 1.52 per cent to 0.66Mt. Sagar Cement to invest US$22m in new capacity18 August 2016, Published under Cement NewsIndia-based cement producer Sagar Cement has announced that it plans to spend INR1.45bn (US$22m) over the next two years to expand its operations, the Hindu reports. The sum includes INR660m (US$10m) to purchase a 1.8Mta grinding unit currently owned by Toshali Cements in Bayyavaram, Andhra Pradesh. Cement production stood at 130,035t in June 2016, a one per cent drop from the 130,905t reported in June 2015. The assets consist of one grinding unit located at Bayyavaram, Vizag district, Andhra Pradesh with a capacity of 181,500tpa.
