Shree Cements on Wednesday reported a 46.39 per cent dip in standalone net profit at to INR1.198bn (US$18.8m) for the third quarter that ended on 31 March 2015 due to a decline in sales. The company had registered a net profit of INR2.225bn for the corresponding period a year ago, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. India's Bihar state cabinet sanctioned its approval on 21 November 2014 for the construction of a INR3370m (US$54.5m) cement plant in the Aurangabad district of Bihar, planned by Shree Cement. The state government of Bihar has approved Shree Cement’s plans for a new cement plant in the Aurangabad district. Informing about the Cabinet decision, B Pradhan, Principal Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat told reporters: “The company had proposed to set up a cement plant with a production capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes per annum [2Mta]. It will also have a 12MW biomass based captive power plant."

Shree Cement has entered into an agreement to buy Jaiprakash Associates 1.5Mta cement grinding unit in the Panipat district of Haryana state in north India.
