China’s export of cement in April 2007

China exported 3,520,000t of cement valued at US$120.965m in April 2007. The export in January-April reached 11,240,000t valued at US$374.078m, down four per cent and up 7.6 per cent respectively YoY.

Xinjiang’s cement exports rise

Xinjiang Hui Autonomous Region exported 2,308t of cement through Baketu Port in May 2007 as of May 23rd, totaling US$ 141,000, up 21 and 12.2 times year-on-year respectively. Xinjiang’s cement recorded overcapacity, while Kazakhstan showed huge demand for cement. China’s cement is still enjoying an 11% export tax rebate. All of these factors were major contributors to the significant increase in cement exports, announced sources from relevant Customs Departments.

Pakistan manufacturers want to export through Wagah border

Pakistani cement manufacturers have demanded the opening of a land route for export the product to India in 2007-08. According to The Nation, the manufacturers want to export cement through the Wagah border. If this demand is met, they said the freight might be reduced by almost US$10-12/t, making Pakistani cement even cheaper than Indian cement. Georgia exports US$13.767m worth of cement in January-April 2007

Georgia exported cement worth US$13.767m in January-April 2007, up 2.2% compared to the similar period last year.     According to the Department of Statistics, cement ranks 9th among Georgia’s export items and accounts for 4.2% of the exports.    In the first four months of 2006, cement worth US$6.287m was exported from Georgia.

The Consumer Market Control Service of the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan checked the cement market of Baku and Absheron to find problems with illegal packaging and forging, and sales of cement without due paperwork. Sichuan Golden Summit wins large cement order

Sichuan Golden Summit signed a cement contract with China Railway Erju Chengdu Company’s Tieda Material Company, worth RMB68M, announced Golden Summit on May 22nd. According to the contract, Sichuan Golden Summit will provide 200,000t of P.O.42.5R bulk cement for Tieda Material Company’s subway project in Chengdu City between May 15th 2007 and May 15th 2008.
