The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export and production data for the July 2020-March 2021 and July 2020-February 2021 periods. It shows diversified trends in export and local production. Four Kenyan cement manufacturers have requested for an urgent meeting with the national treasury over a proposal to review the Common External Tariff (CET) on imported clinker. Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports up 22%

Cement and clinker exports increased by 22.5 per cent YoY to over 8Mt in the year up to 15 March 2021, according to the latest data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs. In terms of value, there was a 14 per cent YoY rise to US$295m. However, average prices dropped 6.7 per cent YoY to US$36.40/t. A drop in average cement and clinker prices in China led to a decline in Vietnamese prices from US$40/t to U$32-33/t since late 2020.

Cuban cement exports fall 40% in 2020

Despite domestic shortages, Cuba exported 21,235t of cement at a value of US$1.04m in 2020, representing a 39.7 per cent drop YoY, according to Periodico Cubano. Indonesia’s PT Semen Padang has announced its export volumes of cement and clinker in January and February 2021. The deliveries were made to the Maldives, Australia and Bangladesh.
