Cementos Portland Valderrivas has invested EUR1m in a new unloader to speed up bulk discharges from ships in the port of Ipswich terminal, one of two that the group has in the United Kingdom. Paramount Pictures has unveiled plans to build one of the world’s biggest theme parks in Britain – creating 27,000 jobs at a former cement works. UK construction activity contracts 10.1% in 2Q12

UK construction sector activity was down 10.1 per cent in the year to July, official figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. The three months between May-July also saw a drop in output of 10 per cent YoY, the ONS data showed. The latest quarterly Office of National Statistics (ONS) figures for UK construction new orders released today show that new orders for construction remained at a depressed level in the second quarter of 2012, despite having risen 1.5% in the first half of 2012 compared to the same period one year earlier.
