PPC Barnet in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) announced that nearly 230,000t of cement were produced in the second quarter of 2021. Cemento Cosmos to stop Cordoba kiln

Cemento Cosmos, part of Brazil-based Votorantim Cimentos, is stopping the kiln at its Córdoba plant in Spain in 2022 due to high energy costs. The plan is to “significantly” reduce clinker production with temporary shutdowns over the next year, reports Diario Córdoba. Sales of cement in Vietnam have increased five per cent in October to 5,239,069t, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM sales edged up two per cent YoY to 1,739,204t in October 2021 while its affiliates saw sales slip by one per cent to 1,149,865t. Cement consumption in Colombia edged up 2.9 per cent YoY to 1.164Mt in September 2021 from 1.131Mt in September 2020, according to the country’s statistics agency, DANE. CRH’s cumulative nine-month sales to the end of September reached US$22.8bn, an increase of 11 per cent YoY and ahead seven per cent on a like-for-like basis. South Africa’s PPC Ltd has announced a 20 per cent YoY increase in revenue to ZAR5.13bn (US$324.5m) in the first half of the year, ended 30 September, compared with ZAR4.27bn in the year-ago period. Pakistan registers fall in exports during 4MFY21-22

Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) reported a 38 per cent fall in exports in terms of dollar value and a 44.2 per cent decrease in export volumes in the 4MFY21-22 when compared with the year-ago period. The cement industry earned US$65.45m of export revenue by dispatching 1.804Mt of cement and clinker overseas, compared with US$105.54m from 3.233Mt of exports in the 4MFY21-22.
