Cement demand in Spain fell by nine per cent YoY to 1,137,773t in September 2023, according to the country’s cement association, Oficemen. Exports declined by 6.8 per cent to 391,566t in September when compared with the year-ago month. In the January-September 2023 period, demand contracted by 1.6 per cent YoY to 10,945,946t. Swiss cement deliveries fall 12% in 3Q23

Cement deliveries in Switzerland in the third quarter of 2023 fell 12.1 per cent to 950,101t from 1,080,399t in the 3Q22, reports the Swiss cement association, Cemsuisse. In the January-September 2023 period deliveries were down 10 per cent to 2,854,726t from 3,173,108t in the 9M22. Approximately 2.749Mt of bulk cement was sold in addition to 88,494t of bagged cement. Breedon Ireland , the Irish cement-making business of the UK-based Breedon Group , reported profit of EUR21.5m in 2022, up 48 per cent from EUR14.5m in the previous year.
