Eagle Materials improves profit by 44 per cent

Including its share of the jointly-owned Texas Lehigh Cement, the turnover of Eagle Materials for the first nine months to 31 December 2016 increased by 3.7 per cent to US$1.01bn. CIMAT posts revenues down by a quarter for 2016

Ciment de l’Atlas (CIMAT) expects to report revenues of MAD2.16bn (US$215.7m) in 2016, compared with MAD2.67bn the year prior. The company attributes the drop to the deceleration of export sales. Lithuania: Akmenes largely offsets decline in Russia exports

Preliminary data show that Lithuania’s Akmenes Cementas posted EUR51m in total revenue, down by EUR4.4m on 2015. UltraTech Cement reported a 4.7 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at INR59.39bn (US$871.6m) for the quarter ended 31 December 2016 due to lower expenses. Najran 4Q16 profit falls 73%

Najran Cement reported a fall in profits of 72.55 per cent to SAR14.76m (US$3.93m) in 4Q16 from SAR53.73m in 4Q15. The company attributed the lower profit to reduced sales volumes due to slowing construction activity and an increase in energy prices. Northern Region Cement Co reported a 57.3% YoY decline in profits in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to the company's filing to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul). Profits reached SAR16.91m (US$4.51m), down from SAR39.62m in 4Q15 and -43.8 per cent when compared with the 3Q16. Raysut Cement has reported a 1.02 per cent growth in net profits of OMR21.17m (US$54.98m) for 2016, against OMR20.95m reached in 2015. Total revenue of the company fell by 2.2 per cent to OMR92.59m in 2016, from OMR94.68m in 2015, according to preliminary results posted by the company on the MSM website. The cost of sales of the company edged up by 3.3 per cent to OMR61.13m in 2016, from OMR59.18m in 2015.

PT Semen Indonesia Tbk made a net profit of IDR4.01trn (US$301.6m) in 2016, which was lower than the IDR4.52trn the previous year. In a trading statement released this week, Sagar Cement has reported a slight decline in cement sales for December compared with a year earlier. Consolidated results – which include the firm’s BMM subsidiary – show cement sales dropping by 0.4 per cent to 154,196t.
