Arkan Building Materials reported 1H20 profits declining to AED2.1m (US$571,818) as construction activity became disrupted in UAE due to the pandemic. Taiwan’s Lucky Cement has seen its revenue climb 22.6 per cent YoY to TWD384m (US$13.05m) in July 2020, against TWD313.2m last year. In the January-July period, revenue advanced 27.4 per cent YoY to TWD2.61bn from TWD2.05bn.

Hsing Ta Cement records 10% rise in revenue for July

Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement saw a 9.8 per cent YoY increase in revenue to TWD656.18m (US$22.3m) in July 2020, compared with TWD597.88m in the year-ago period. In the first seven months of the year, revenue declined 6.2 per cent YoY to TWD3.9bn from TWD4.17bn.

Southern Province Cement reports 48% surge in net profit

Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement Co reported a 48.4 per cent surge in net profit to SAR135m (US$36m) in the 2Q20, against SAR91m in the second quarter of 2019. Sales also advanced 22.8 per cent YoY to SAR339m from SAR276m.

Qassim Cement sees 21% rise in net profit

Saudi Arabia’s Qassim Cement saw a net profit of SAR85.5m (US$22.8m) in the second quarter of 2020, up 21.3 per cent YoY compared to SAR70.5m in the year-ago period. Sales also increased 8.3 per cent YoY to SAR167.4m from SAR154.5m.

Dalmia Bharat posts 24% YoY increase in net profit

India’s Dalmia Bharat has reported a 23.7 per cent YoY rise in consolidated net profit to INR1.88bn (US$25.08m) for the quarter ending June 2020, compared with 1.52bn in the year-ago period. Taiwan Cement Corp has seen a three per cent YoY decline in revenue for July 2020, falling to TWD10.18bn (US$346m) from TWD10.49bn in July 2019. In the first seven months of 2020, revenue has decreased 6.8 per cent YoY to TWD62.6bn from TWD67.2bn.

City Cement reports 12% increase in net profit

Saudi Arabia’s City Cement saw a 12.2 per cent rise in net profit to SAR36.2m (US$9.65m) in the second quarter of 2020, compared with SAR32.25m in the corresponding period of last year.  The higher profits have been attributed to a growth in sales and other revenues, alongside a decline in costs. The company also reported a 44.8 per cent increase in net profit after zakat to SAR106.66m for the 1H20, against SAR73.67m in the first half of 2019.

JK Lakshmi sees 13% rise in net profit

India’s JK Lakshmi Cement posted a 12.9 per cent increase in net profit to INR446.4m (US$5.96m) for the 1QFY20-21, compared with INR395.4m last year.
