Ambuja and ACC to develop new calcined clay cements

Ambuja Cements and ACC have announced a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) to develop calcined clay cements. It will be implemented through a research project funded by the Holcim Innovation Centre in Lyon, France, and comprise of an in-depth scientific study into the influence of clinker, calcined clay and limestone on the performance of calcined clay cements. Vicat contracts FLSmidth for full-scale clay calcination project

New Cuban facility begins production of green cement

After several months of tests, a new plant installed at the Marta Abreu University in Las Villas, Cuba, has begun the production of low-carbon cement (LC3). The main components of the cement are clinker, calcined clay, limestone and gypsum. At present, the plant produces around 4tpd of LC3, but production is expected to double once the new facility is fully operational.
