Indonesian exports advance 15% in November

Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia rose 15.4 per cent to 648,354t in November 2019, according to figures published by Semen Indonesia. In November 2018 exports totalled 561,950t. Cement exports fell 6.1 per cent YoY to 129,621t in November when compared with 138,079t in November 2018. However, the decline was offset by a 22.4 per cent rise in clinker exports. According to Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh's cement industry has earned an export revenue of US$3.18m between July and October 2019-20 compared to US$3.94m earned in same period last year. This translates a fall of 19.3 per cent YoY basis. Kenya reports decline in cement exports

Kenya has reportedly seen 9017t of cement exports in the first quarter of 2019, which represents a value of KES11m (US$106,940). This is a significant decline when compared to the 1Q17, which saw export volumes of 98,824t at a value of KES877m, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.

Tajikistan's cement exports rise in 5M19

Tajikistan has exported nearly 620,000t of cement over the first five months of 2019, with average monthly exports at around 124,000t. The total is over 100,000t more than in Jan-May 2018, according to Asia-Plus. In the 5M19 the country exported 346,000t of cement to Uzbekistan, 247,000t to Afghanistan and 27,000t to Kyrgyzstan, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

Bangladesh's cement industry has recorded a 20.4 per cent decline in export revenue to US$8.82m during the 10MFY18-19, compared to US$11.08m of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Pakistan’s cement export revenue for the first 10 months of the current fiscal observed a YoY growth of 30.9 per cent and 52.3 per cent in terms of dollar value and quantity, respectively, according to Pakistan's Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Egyptian cement exports declined in value to US$19m in the first two months of 2019 compared with US$23m of the year-ago period, according to the Export Council for Building Materials (ECBM). Pakistan’s cement exports to South Africa have significantly fallen over the last two years as a result of the anti-dumping duty imposed by the South African government, according to Mohammad Rafiq Memon, chairman of the Pakistan-South Africa Business Forum (PSABF). Over 14,000t of cement is set to be exported from Iran’s southern island of Qeshm to Somalia, according to Iran Daily. Vietnamese exports have risen 15.2 per cent in volume and 36.3 per cent in value for February 2019, rising to around 2.5Mt and US$105m, respectively. The average export price has increased 18.3 per cent YoY to US$42/t, according to the country’s Foreign Trade Agency.
