Beni Suef begins construction of coal mill, Egypt

Beni Suef Cement has began the construction of the coal mill worth EGP200m (US$26.3m), to be used as an alternative to natural gas and heavy fuel oil at its cement plant in Egypt. Titan Cement has ordered a MPS 2800 BK vertical roller mill for coal from Gebr Pfeiffer SE for Line No 1 of its Beni Suef works in Egypt. The mill is designed for a finished product rate of 40tph. Civil works have started on the bulk cement handling project at Port Qasim of Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Ltd (PIBTL). Kenya’s National Cement, part of the Devki Group, plans to build a KES1.7bn (US$19m) coal-fired power plant to serve its clinker plant and limestone mining operation in Kajiado, Kenya. Beni Suef has reached an agreement to build a coal mill worth in 12 months, the cement producer announced in a statement to the stock market. The project, worth EGP200m, will be funded through self-financing and loans, the company added. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
