TPI Polene Plans THB0.25/Shr Div

Cement maker TPI Polene PCL plans to pay an interim dividend of THB0.25 a share for its first-half performance, pending consent from its creditors. The payment is scheduled on Oct. 27. Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank PCL (SCB.TH) has appointed Vicharn Panich, a medical doctor, director of the Knowledge Management Institute and chairman of the University Council of Mahidol University, as a director on the bank’s board effective of Sept. 29.

Another cement firm looks to list on Hanoi Bourse, Vietnam

Thach Cao Cement Joint Stock Company has sent the listing file to the Hanoi Securities Trading Center (HASTC), asking for license to float its shares on the market.    The company has a registered capital of VND35bn, of which the state owns 76.35% and other investors, including its staff, 23.65% stake.    The central Hue city-based firm runs business in import and export of clinkers and cements, cement grilling and transport. 

Texas Industries announces further price increases, US

Texas Industries’ first quarter turnover, to the end of August, increased by 12.3% to US$271.7m, while the trading profit jumped by 85.2% to US$45m.  Higher cement prices have had a major beneficial effect on the company’s margins. Egyptian cement company Ameriya Cement sold its shares and assets in Egypt’s Express Ready Concrete Co for E£1.5m (US$261,000), the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges (CASE) said on September 25, 2006.    Ameriya Cement holding in Express Ready Concrete Co included 45,000 shares worth E£4.5m (US$784,000), of which £1.125m ($196,000/153,000 euro) paid-up.    The total capital of Express Ready Concrete Co, set up in Cairo in 1999, amounts to 15 mln pounds ($2.6 mln/2.0 mln euro).    Ameri...

Holcim offers cash for conversion of bond to shares

Holcim  is offering a cash incentive to holders of its US dollar zero coupon convertible bond due 2017 to convert the bonds into shares, the company said on Monday.    "The cash amount compensates for the premium at which the bonds trade in the market and provides an additional 1.5 percent incentive," Holcim said, adding the offer opened on Monday and ends on Oct. 2.    Holcim said the book value of the outstanding bond as of June 30 was SwFr372m ($301.2m).    The company said the transac...
