Indocement upgrading plant capacity

UAE National Cement – profits down

The net profit of UAE Dubai-based National Cement Company PSC declined to 55.7 mln UAE dirhams (US$15.2m) in the first quarter of 2006 from 66.2 mln dirhams (US$18m) a year ago, the company said in a statement to Dubai Financial Market (DFM) on May 21, 2006.  Revenue grew to 115.8 mln dirhams (US$31.5m) compared to 102.1 mln dirhams (US$27.8m).

Czech cement maker Holcim raised sales by four per cent year-on-year to Kc2.2 billion in 2005, chairman Roland van Wijnen told CTK today. Gross profit rose slightly to almost Kc370 million. The company raised sales of all products, including cement, concrete and gravel, on a growth in Czech building output. Lafarge faces charges over plant fatalities

Gansu Qilianshan Cement Co, Ltd has bought Shoulushan Cement Co, Ltd, the biggest cement producer in Baiyin City of the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu.  The two parties entered into an agreement on April 9, and they have come into the substantial phase of integration.  Shanghai-listed Qilianshan Cement has 13 controlling subsidiaries and 396 million capital stock. Lafarge buys Brasov quarries

Lafarge Aggregate Betoane (Aggregate Concrete) bought several stone quarries in Brasov for some Euro 550,000 from Romaco. Lafarge has already used the quarries on lease contracts, Business Review reports in its latest issue. Lafarge representatives announced the move last week. FLSmidth & Co AS raised its sales and earnings guidance for the full-year 2006 after posting a first quarter pretax profit of DKr115m up from DKr50m the year before and above the consensus of DKr93m. Operating earnings rose to DKr106m from DKr25m and was also above the consensus of DKr85m as compiled by RB-Boersen. FCCL considering expansion plan

Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) is considering an expansion plan to increase its production capacity from 1.165Mta, to 3.15Mta. The FCCL is planning to add a new production line of 6000tpd parallel to the existing line thus enhancing its capacity to around 10000tpd says a press release.  This significant expansion in operational capacity of the plant would reduce the higher demand pressure in the northern part of the country and help stabilisation of cement prices, it said.   

Lafarge Romcim sees higher 2006 turnover

Romanian cement producer Lafarge Romcim, a unit of French building materials group Lafarge, expects its turnover to reach Euro 190m in 2006, the company said on May 18, 2006.  The Romanian cement market might even reach a total of Euro 570m in 2006.  Lafarge Romcim runs cement plants in Medgidia, Hoghiz and Targu Jiu.    Lafarge also expects a 10 per cent to 12 per cent annual growth in 2006 for all its operations in Romania as all sectors of the domestic construction market are seen to gro...
