Mikhaylov Construction Materials Plant completes Eurocement acquisition

Sberbank has closed a deal to sell parent company Eurocement Group's shares and debt to OOO Mikhailovsky Kombinat Stroitelnykh Materialov (Mikhaylov Construction Materials Plant), which won the auction organised on the Russian Action house’s electronic platform. The transaction was valued at RUB161bn US$2.214bn).   The deal will have a positive impact on the group’s financial performance and will be reflected in Sber Group's IFRS Report for 3Q21.

Oman Cement posts 5% decline in net profit

Oman Cement has posted a 4.8 per cent decline in net profit to OMR2m (US$5.2m) in the first half of 2021, compared to OMR2.1m in the year-ago period. Total revenue fell 9.1 per cent YoY to OMR24m from OMR26.4m in the 1H20.

Raysut Cement sees net loss contract in 1H21

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co has seen its net loss after tax contract to OMR3.2m (US$8.3m) in the first half of 2021, compared to OMR10.9m in the same period of last year. Total revenue remained largely consistent YoY at OMR45m from OMR44.8m in the 1H20.  

Cimencam appoints new executive board chairman

Cameroon’s former Minister of Mining, Jacques-Yves Mbélé Ndoé has been appointed chairman of the Cimencam’s executive board and as a result, is also the representative of the country’s President in the company’s executive board. Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe to double cement capacity in 2022

Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe (Holcim group) plans to double its cement milling capacity upon completion of the installation of a new vertical roller mill (VRM) in 2022. Tangshan Jidong sees cement and clinker sales rise 14%

China’s Tangshan Jidong Cement expects its net profit to rise 20-30 per cent YoY to CNY1.2-1.3bn (US$185-200m) in the first half of 2021, compared to CNY1bn in the year-ago period. The company has attributed the rise in profit to an increase in cement and clinker sales, continued strengthening of cost control and a decline in expenses. Its consolidated sales of cement and clinker advanced 14 per cent to around 48Mt.

Dangote acquires 20,000 vehicles to improve distribution

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement has acquired 20,000 additional vehicles to improve the distribution of its products across the country. The vehicles, made up of trucks, trailers and tippers, represent an investment of US$150m. Cemex has announced that it has successfully closed the previously announced sale of its white cement business, including its Buñol cement plant in Spain, to Çimsa Çimento Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS, for a total consideration of approximately US$155m. Argos has announced that in June 2021 its Newberry plant in Florida, USA, smashed two previous records. It produced 140,421t, beating the previous record set in June 2019 (127,800t) by nearly 20,000t.
