Mohir Cement launches new plant

Tajikistan’s Mohir Cement LLC held the official opening ceremony of its new plant in Jaloliddin Balkhi, Khatlon, yesterday, with the ceremony attended by the country's President, Emomali Rahmon. The facility has a capacity of 600,000tpa and will produce M400 and M500 cements. Cement from the unit is expected to be exported to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

Jamaica’s Caribbean Cement Co is looking to maximise its production capacity as it prepares to satisfy the increase in domestic demand, according to the Jamaica Observer. Dangote Cement's regional performance in FY20 saw its domestic market of Nigeria return volumes of 15.73Mt, a rise of 11.5 per cent on the 14.11Mt recorded in FY19. Kuwait Portland Cement has seen a 7.1 per cent YoY decline in attributable net profit to KWD1.3m (US$4.3m) in the 4Q20, compared with KWD1.4m in the year-ago period. Total operating revenue fell 46.6 per cent to KWD12.5m from KWD23.4m in the 4Q19.
