Lucky Cement Ltd of Pakistan has set a target date of 20 December 2020 for the start-up of its 1.2Mta greenfield clinker unit, in Samawah, Iraq. Cemex exported 9% of Mexican output in 2019

Cemex exported nine per cent of its Mexican cement sales in 2019. according to CE NAFTA 2.0. The company’s data show that 67 per cent of exports were delivered to US customers while the remaining 33 per cent were shipped to other Latin American countries. Exports were mainly in the form of cement although the company also shipped some clinker.

Ambuja Cements reports 51% increase in net profit

India’s Ambuja Cements reported a 50.5 per cent YoY rise in consolidated net profit to INR8.04bn (US$109.15m) for the July-September quarter this year, compared to INR5.34bn during the year-ago period. Pakistan’s Gharibwal Cement has reported a 27 per cent YoY rise in unaudited revenue for the quarter ending 30 September 2020, increasing to PKR2.6bn (US$16.19m) from PKR2.06m. The company also returned to a net profit of PKR263.3m from a PKR235.3m loss in the July-September 2019 period.

UltraTech Cement Ltd (Aditya Birla group) announced earned consolidated net sales of INR102.31bn (US$1.389bn) in 2QFY21 compared to INR94.86bn in 2QFY20. Yamama Cement (YSCC) posted a revenue of SAR218m (US$58.12m) in 3Q20, a YoY growth of 16.6 per cent.  Cement volumes grew by 24.9 per cent in 3Q20 compared to 3Q19 at 1.13Mt. India’s Shiva Cement has announced plans to set up a new 4000tpd clinker unit and 1Mta grinding plant. The total cost of the project is expected to reach INR15.3bn (US$208.02m), with the ground-breaking ceremony expected to take place on 22 October 2020. The company also reported a net loss of INR62.6m in the quarter ending September 2020, compared with a net loss of INR62.3m in the year-ago period. Carthage Cement sees reduced COVID-19 impact on 3Q results

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement reported a less severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its turnover in the third quarter of 2020. Nepal’s Samrat Cement is expected to begin producing 4500tpd of clinker within two months, according to the New Business Age. Chairman of Samrat Cement, Mukunda Prasad Timilsina, confirmed that all the necessary infrastructure for the production of clinker has already been prepared.
