Local producers in Tanzania are being asked by the government to supply them with information on their production costs to make it easier for them to act on their complaints. Domestic cement producers are complaining of an unlevelled playing field due to cheap imports which, they say, were distorting the market. Dangote inaugurates Zambian plant

The Dangote Group on Tuesday inaugurated its 1.5Mta cement plant in Zambia together with a 30MW coal plant to power the factory. The  project was inaugurated by Zambia's President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, at Masasiti district, Ndola,  Zambia. The plant began operations in June and is selling both 32.5 and 42.5 grade cement to meet local needs.

Dangote Cement said first-half profit rose 28 per cent as its pan-African expansion helps make up for “uncertainties” in its domestic market of Nigeria. Dangote-backed Sephaku Cement said on Friday that its revenue for the year ended March rose by 36 per cent as EBITDA increased by 39 per cent to ZAR139m (US$10.2m). Dangote Cement is reportedly planning to enter the Asian cement market with the construction of a cement plant in Nepal. Dangote begins trial operations at new Ethiopian plant

Dangote Cement Plc began trial production of cement last week at its 2.5Mta cement works in Ethiopia,  AllAfrica press reported. The milestone of kiln ignition was achieved in April 2015. Dangote Cement reported a double-digit rise in first-quarter revenue, boosted by contributions from its new factories in Africa. In November 2013 FLSmidth signed a number of contracts with the Nigerian cement producer Dangote Cement PLC for operation and maintenance of production lines at their Ibese and Obajana cement plants in Nigeria for a period of five years.
