China: Hubei producers may default on carbon obligations

Cement producers participating in the carbon market in China's Hubei province have told the local government they cannot afford the millions of yuan required to buy permits to cover mitigation obligations for 2014 and may default,  according to a document seen by Reuters. Paraguay: INC expects to use up 20% biofuel

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) announced that subject to satisfactory analysis results, the cement producer will be including biofuel in its fuel mix. A series of tests is currently being carried out by the Engineering Faculty of the National University of Asuncíon (UNA). Jorge Méndez Cuevas, CEO of INC, said the company could substitute fuel oil with up to 20 per cent biofuel.

Saxlund International has collaborated with Hope Construction Materials (HCM) to install and commission a new waste-derived fuel solution for the UK-based cement producer.
