In India the landed cost of petcoke could increase by 5.6 per cent as a result of the import duty hike, reports Nirmal Bang Institutional Equities. The import duty on the fuel was raised in December 2017, increasing from 2.5 to 10 per cent. India’s Wonder Cement has ordered two additional vertical mills from Gebr Pfeiffer, adding to the five already supplied by the company. The Indian cement industry is expected to post a flat growth of approximately five per cent in FY19, despite an increase in demand and a positive outlook, according to an ICRA report. Vicat is to invest some EUR223m in its Indian operations. Of this, EUR60m will be spend on a 1.75Mta grinding centre at Vizianagam in Andhra Pradesh for completion by the middle of 2022. Orient Cement plans to expand facility in Telangana

India-based Orient Cement has announced plans to expand its facility in District Mancherial, Telangana. The project is worth an estimated INR21bn (US$323.74m) and involves adding capacity to its waste heat recovery (WHR) unit, increasing output potential to 75MW from 50MW. An application for environmental clearance has been submitted, and once fully approved, the project is expected to be completed within a 24-month period.

Anjani Portland Cement plans to expand capacity

India’s Anjani Portland Cement has approved plans to construct an additional clinker production unit at its plant in Suryapet, Telangana. The project will see an investment of INR4bn (US$61.49bn) to expand the facility’s capacity from 1.16Mta to 2.31Mta, according to India Infoline. The expansion is expected to be completed by December 2019, and will be funded through either internal accruals, inter-corporate deposits or bank loans.
