Dalmia Bharat to acquire Murli Industries

Dalmia Bharat is set to acquire the bankrupt Murli Industries, according to The Economic Times. The deal represents an investment of close to INR4bn (US$62.4m) by Dalmia. The company will also cancel almost the entire equity of Murli Industries. Dalmia won the bid on Wednesday, despite Gajanan Oil submitting a higher cash offer. Including interest and fines, Murli Industries had accumulated INR17bn in debt. Murli has an integrated cement plant with a capacity of 3Mta.

Cement prices in India are expected to increase by INR3-4/bag by mid-January as the government has decided to hike the import duty on petcoke from the current 2.5 to 10 per cent. Penna Cement Industries Ltd has ordered a Loesche VRM for its plant in Boyareddypalli, Andhra Pradesh.The four-roller mill will grind petcoke with a throughput capacity of 52tph. The order will be fulfilled by Loesche at the beginning of next year. Penna Cement Industries has a total production capacity of 7Mta and is primarily active in the southern and western regions of India. Indian cement producer Saurashtra Cement has scheduled to start its annual kiln maintenance at its plant in Ranavav, Gujarat, from 8 January 2018. The process is expected to take around 20 days. Emami Cement has ordered an automation and electrical system from ABB India for a 2Mta greenfield plant in Odisha, according to moneycontrol. Emami hopes to meet the rising demand in the country by constructing energy-efficient cement plants.
