UltraTech Cement Ltd has released its Annual Sustainability Report for the FY22-23. Prism Cement has ordered an IKN pendulum   clinker cooler. HeidelbergCement India has reported revenue of INR5956.4m (US$72.5m) in the first quarter of FY2023-24 ended 30 June 2023. This is up marginally on the INR5898m seen in the same period a year earlier. Net profit over the same timeframe advanced 1.37 per cent to INR523.2m as fuel and packaging costs eased. An IKN Pendulum cooler has been installed at Dalmia Cement’s Ariyalur plant in India. IKN engineers have designed an innovative Pendulum cooler with a compact design that allows pre-assembly and reduces on-site assembly time. The cooler has been designed to gradually increase the rated capacity of production. The first clinker arrived at the cooler on 16 July 2023.

Prism Johnson Ltd is transferring a number of limestone-bearing land parcels in Andhra Pradesh to Ramco Cements Ltd . The land, located in Kalvatla and Kotapadu, comprises 1420 acres. LIC reduces stake in India Cements Ltd

India-based Life Insurance Corp (LIC) has reduced its stake in India Cements Ltd from 5.87 per cent to 3.83 per cent. The reduction has taken place between November 2017 and July 2023. LIC now holds 11.9m shares in the cement producer.  India Cements currently runs eight integrated plants and two grinding units across India, with a total cement production capacity of around 15.5Mta.   

Indian cement demand to rise 7-8% in FY24

Cement demand in India is expected to expand by 7-8 per cent YoY in FY23-24, according to ICRA, the India-based rating agency. Cement prices, meanwhile, are forecast to remain on a par with FY22-23.  In a recent report by ICRA, the agency found that cement volumes in April 2023 were up 12 per cent YoY at 36.6Mt.
