Orient Cement's INR21bn project cleared to begin

India’s environment ministry has reportedly cleared Orient Cement’s INR21bn (US$280.27m) expansion plan for its Telangana plant, according to the India National Press.  In 2017 the company announced its plans to expand its Devapur plant in Telangana and Chittapur unit in Karnataka for an estimated capital expenditure of INR36bn. However, the plans were stalled and were with the environment ministry for the last two years as an expert panel sought several clarifications.

Ambuja Cement expects to commission Mundwa plant in 3Q21

Ambuja Cement will complete its integrated greenfield cement plant at Mundwa in Rajasthan with învestment of INR23,500m (US$314.4m) in   3Q21. The new plant will enhance the clinker capacity of the company by 3Mta and help improve cement sales by 5Mta. NCL Industries reports 33% increase in production

India’s NCL Industries has reported a 33 per cent YoY rise in cement production to 691,136t in the 4QFY20-21, compared to 519,339t in the year-ago period. Cement dispatches also advanced 38 per cent to 701,949t from 508,392t. The company’s production of cement boards reached 19,740t, while board dispatches was at 22,188t during the final quarter of the FY20-21.

Birla Cement is to benefit from new open access solar power project

Waaree Energies, India’s largest solar module manufacturer has supplied 330wp & 335wp solar modules for a 28MWp captive solar open access project in Uttar Pradesh that will supply power to Birla Corporation Ltd (MP Birla Cement).   This is the first captive open access project commissioned in Uttar Pradesh under the Uttar Pradesh Connectivity Auction. The project which was inaugurated in March 2021.

Prism Johnson commissions further WHR and solar capacity

India’s Prism Johnson has commissioned a 12.4MW waste heat recovery (WHR) unit and 10MW of solar power at its cement plant in Satna, Madya Pradesh. This is in addition to the 12.5MW of solar power capacity that was put into operation in the FY19-20 and the 10MW WHR facility that was installed in November 2020 at the same plant. The installations are expected to help the company reduce its dependence on non-renewable sources of energy and are part of its sustainability initiatives.

Dalmia Cement launches production at 2.25Mta expansion

Deccan Cement orders Gebr Pfeiffer mill

Deccan Cement Ltd, based in Hyderabad, India, has ordered another vertical mill from Gebr Pfeiffer for its new kiln line at the Bhavanipuram plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Chhattisgarh truck owners seek 12% increase in transport rates

Truck owners under the umbrella of The Chhattisgarh Transport Association, India, are demanding in a 12 per cent rise in charges to transport cement from plants due to an increase in diesel prices. Since 26 February truckers have been on strike in terms of cement transportation. Initially they sought a 40 per cent hike. The cement companies want to limit price hikes to five per cent.
