Bangladesh suspends unloading of imported clinker

The unloading of imported clinker and other commodities in Chittagong and Mongla ports in Bangladesh remains suspended due to an indefinite strike called by Water Transport Workers for the last two days. Shiva Cement to set up new 4000tpd unit

India’s Shiva Cement has announced plans to set up a new 4000tpd clinker unit and 1Mta grinding plant. The total cost of the project is expected to reach INR15.3bn (US$208.02m), with the ground-breaking ceremony expected to take place on 22 October 2020. The company also reported a net loss of INR62.6m in the quarter ending September 2020, compared with a net loss of INR62.3m in the year-ago period. Net sales declined 6.5 per cent YoY to INR52.3m, according to the Business Standard.

Samrat Cement to begin clinker production within two months

Nepal’s Samrat Cement is expected to begin producing 4500tpd of clinker within two months, according to the New Business Age. Chairman of Samrat Cement, Mukunda Prasad Timilsina, confirmed that all the necessary infrastructure for the production of clinker has already been prepared. ACC sees EBITDA rise 21% in the 3Q20

India’s ACC Ltd has reported a 19.8 per cent YoY increase in consolidated profit after tax to INR3.64bn (US$49.59m) for the 3Q20, against INR3.03bn during the same period last year.
