Cement production in Pakistan rises 12% in 7MFY18

Cement production in Pakistan recorded 12.1 per cent growth YoY during the first seven months of the current financial year. The country produced 23.77Mt of cement throughout July 2017-January 2018, compared to 21.2Mt of the year-ago period.  In January 2018 alone, production increased 23.5 per cent YoY to 3.64Mt (2017: 2.95Mt), according to the Business Recorder.

Colombia’s grey cement sales contracted 4.8 per cent YoY to 959,500t in February 2018, according to DANE, the national statistics office. Dispatches to Norte de Santander registered the largest growth at 43.9 per cent YoY, followed by Valle del Cauca, where deliveries expanded by 6.3 per cent. Eurocement Ukraine produced 1.12Mt of cement in 2017, representing a 1.9-fold rise YoY. The company shipped 1.1Mt of product to consumers. The company’s net loss contracted 14 per cent YoY to UAH145.6m (US$5.52m).

Cement demand in Peru increased by 1.4 per cent YoY in February 2018 to 0.824Mt from 0.812Mt, according to the latest data by Asocem, the country’s cement association. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico grew by 3.5 per cent YoY to 6.3Mt in December 2017, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Argentine cement consumption increased 15.6 per cent YoY in February 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Total volumes sold on the domestic market rose to 924,075t, up from 799,340t in February 2017 but down 11.5 per cent when compared with January 2018, when sales reached 1,043,732t. Colombia's cement market contracted by 0.5 per cent YoY in January 2018 to 0.908Mt, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office. Ukraine’s cement producers increased their cement output by 2.4 per cent YoY to 343,000t in January, according to Ukrainian News. Compared with December 2017, production fell by 22.5 per cent.
