Ukraine cement output rises to 9.3Mt in 2017

Ukraine’s cement producers increase their production by 2.3 per cent YoY to 9.307Mt in 2017, according to the country’s State Statistics Service. In December output reached 0.46Mt, representing a fall of 1.4 per cent YoY and 37.8 per cent MoM. Cement production in 2016 stood at 9.096Mt, up 7.1 per cent when compared with 2015, according to the Ukrainian News Agency.

Voronezh Cement increases dispatches by 5%

Eurocement-owned Voronezh Cement saw a five per cent YoY advance in its shipments to customers in 2017. Dispatches rose to 1.8Mt by the end of the year. The company increased its cement output by five per cent to 1.808Mt while its clinker production rose by 10 per cent to 1.717Mt when compared with the company’s production figures in 2016.

Nevjansky Tsementnik increases output in 2017

Nevyansky Tsementnik, part of Eurocement, produced 823,339t of clinker and 1Mt of cement in 2017. This represents an increase by seven and 15 per cent, respectively, when compared with 2016. Production and shipment of cement at the plant reached an all-time high in July 2017. Output increased to 121,682t while deliveries were up to 127,284t.

Puerto Rican cement sales fell 11% in 2017

Cement sales in Puerto Rico decreased by 11.2 per cent in 2017, seeing declines in September, October, November and December, reports Sin Comillas. The fall in sales has been attributed to a weak economy following the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria, but sales have declined since 2013. December 2017 was a positive month for Peru's cement production and dispatches, although volumes remained insufficient to reverse the accumulated fall in 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Vietnam’s demand for cement increased seven per cent YoY to 62Mt in 2017, according to the Department of Price Management, Ministry of Finance. Algeria’s Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie (GICA) announced a production record of 13,950,660t in 2017. This reflects an 11 per cent rise in output when compared with 12,604,0045t reported in 2016. Sagar Cement (SCL) saw a 65 per cent rise in sales in December 2017 as the India-based company reported sales of 254,348Mt, compared with the year-ago period. Cement consumption in Sri Lanka increased by 25.3 per cent YoY in 2016, to 7.99Mt from 6.37Mt.
