Under a proposal with Lehigh Southwest Cement Co, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest around Lake Shasta could grow by about 246 acres. Lehigh Southwest Cement wants to swap about 78 acres of Forest Service land near its Mountain Gate plant for about 246 acres it owns near the McCloud arm of Lake Shasta. US November shipments up 5%

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for November 2011 were 6.2Mt, data from the US Geological Survey showed. This was 5% higher than shipments in November 2010. Shipments for the year through November were 67.3 Mt, slightly higher than those of the same period in 2010. Including its share of the jointly-owned Texas Lehigh Cement, Eagle Materials turnover for the first nine months to 31 December, rose 4.7% to US$442.7m.
