Re: quarry and mix optimization
Dear Ted ,
thx so much for ur reply and support , really u give me what i want to set a plan for Mix optimization for this factory , but if u let me ask about few points in ur best practices:
1- is your stock pile for lime stone only or ( lime / clay )mix pile .
2- what is the distance nearly between every blast holes ( in your quarry ) ?.
3- do you take samples form the blasts it self after blasting to compare its analysis with the blast holes analysis or not ?
4- do you have Auto sampler on your holes drilling machine ( to collect the drilling dust ) or not ?
because you know the most important point is to know the right analysis which represent the right quality of your quarry Lime stone to monover and correct the deviation in your stock pile
At last , i am really grateful for your support
My mail is MMtronic2@hotmail.com just in case u need it and it will be pleasure to me to have your mail .

At that time it was limestone (~90%) and we used pure clay as a separate component. However today we use limestone/clay mix.
But, you cannot use manual sampling technique (ie sampling from a conveyor belt transfer station) for limestone/clay mix because of the large particle size differences and chemical differences between the clay and limestone particles. The required sample size to obtain a representative sample of limestone/clay mix which has a maximum particle size of say 100mm would be 100kg which is excessively impractical.
The only real option for limestone/clay mix is a cross-belt analyser.

2- what is the distance nearly between every blast holes ( in your quarry ) ?.
For limestone/clay our drill hole spacing is 4 x 5 meters. eg
---------------------------------------------
x x x x x x x x <----
5m
^ ^
| 4m |

Today, we use a cross-belt analyser after the crusher to analyse the limestone/clay mix. However in the past we have taken samples from blast holes, but only when there was a particular problem with the geology/chemistry, eg volcanic dykes and intrusions, clay lenses or high alkalis or magnesium. Normally we rely on the cross-belt analyser and the crusher operators' experience and knowledge of the mine geology/chemistry to control the quality of each stockpile.
Manual sampling and testing of blast hole dust/chips has to be performed with great care in order to achieve a reasonable accuracy, and even then the results should be compared with a cross-belt analyser to confirm their usefulness.

No, not at the moment. However, fo the past few months, our mining engineer has been in the process of discussions with our drilling and blasting contractor to fit automatic sampling equipment on their drilling rigs. We may soon install these, depending on the cost.
Best Regards,
Ted.

Re: quarry and mix optimization
Dear experts,
I am working on the project,,crossbelt online analizer at the limestone quarry". Quarry is characterised with unstable Cao content of limestone.Installation of analizer will provide supply of limestone with stable chemical composition to the plant, but I am intrested in what will be profit of this project.
Thank you in advance.
