Re: quarry and mix optimization
GLT:Dear experts,
I am working on the project,,crossbelt online analizer at the limestone quarry". Quarry is characterised with unstable Cao content of limestone.Installation of analizer will provide supply of limestone with stable chemical composition to the plant, but I am intrested in what will be profit of this project.
Thank you in advance.

Re: quarry and mix optimization
Hello GLT,
The installation of a cross-belt analyser (CBA) at the quarry has the following direct and indirect cost benefits;-
1. Lower capital costs - There is no need for a laboratory to test limestone and clay at the quarry.
2. Lower cost of employment - There is no need for manual sampling and testing. With a CBA, one properly trained crusher operator can perform the same function as 3-4 people. (ie sampling, testing, crusher operation, quality control etc)
3. Lower silica and iron corrective costs. - Higher SR and lower AR targets for the crushed limestone(clay) can be more easily and consistently achieved with a CBA. This allows the Plant Chemist to control and optimise expensive correctives costs at the raw mill.
4. Control of problem elements in the deposit. - The high frequency of analyses with a CBA allows the crusher operator to quickly detect and control deleterious elements, such as K2O, Na2O, MgO and SO3, in the finished stockpiles. This avoids costly blockages and/or cement quality problems at the kiln end.
5. Consistent limestone stockpile quality - The reduced variability of raw material stockpile chemistry has a flow-on effect that positively influences raw meal quality and mineralogy while at the same time improving kiln feed variability. This consistent quality also stabilises the kiln process, maximising production and minimising waste.
6. Fewer customer complaints - If quality is controlled right from the quarry it is much easier to control quality throughout the whole process and ultimately optimise cement quality and performance. This will result in fewer customer complaints, more sales and higher profits.

Ted.
