Mineralised Clinker (Flourite)
Dear all,
I need some help about adding CaF2 to raw mix.
Whatever you know about the issue, please send me.
Regards,
Firat.

Hello Firat,
The following paper, entitled "Effect of mineralizers in cement production.", might be of some use to you;-

Re: Mineralised Clinker (Flourite)
Hello Ted,
I have this paper. It is very useful in order to undersant the effect of the mineralisers like flourite or barium or zn. However, what I am dealing with is their applications.
For example, how I can find the Flourine content in a rock. Because X-Ray can not read F. Do you know any titration method?
In what percentage the F can be effectivele usable in clinker manufacturing?
Thanks,
Firat

I don't know of any classical titration method but it is possible to analyse fluoride by thermometric titration. eg;-

However the most common method is by use of an ion-selective electrode (ISE), also known as a specific ion electrode (SIE) eg;-

With regard to OPC, most literature states that above about 0.3%, fluoride progressively retards setting time and reduces mortar strengths (all ages). However clinkers mineralised with both fluoride and sulphate are more effective and can tolerate higher amounts of both mineralisers. Improved hydraulic properties of cements based on clinker mineralised with both calcium fluoride and calcium sulfate have been reported.
From what I have seen, a fluoride content of about 0.5% is about the optimum for mineralised clinker.

Ted.
