Cement sales in Ecuador in February 2015 were 0.436t, down 10.3 per cent compared to 0.486Mt recorded in January 2015. For the first two months of this year, accumulated sales totalled 0.922Mt, latest information from Instituto Ecuatoriano Del Cemento Y Del Hormigon shows. Total sales last year came in at around 6.45Mt, up from 6.3Mt the previous year.

Penna Cement Industries to set up a cement grinding unit with a capacity of 0.7Mta at Daund, in the Pune district of Maharashtra. The estimated cost of the project is INR2bn (US$32m). The dealer price for cement has significantly increased from XOF95,000 (US$156) to XOF110,000/t in Côte d’Ivoire. In terms of the price of 50kg bag, this means a 20 per cent price rise to XOF6000. Southern Province Cement (SPC) on Monday launched trial operations of a third production line at its plant in Tuhama, Saudi Arabia, the company said in a bourse filing.
