Cement deliveries by Swiss cement producers increased 2.9 per cent in 2011 compared to the year before.
This increase is attributed exclusively to the first half. In the second and third quarters, deliveries dropped slightly, and rose only incrementally in the fourth quarter by 0.3 per cent YoY.
Total deliveries in 2011 reached 4.69Mt (year before: 4.55Mt). The share consumed by concrete plants reached a record 77.5 per cent.
Due to a less favourable economic outlook for 2012, CemSuisse, the Swiss Cement Association, forecasts a drop in deliveries of between 2-4%t compared to last year. While the infrastructure sector should remain active, overall construction activity is expected to fall.
