Italian cement output rebounded strongly in November, increasing seven per cent YoY, according to the latest data from Italian concrete association, Federbeton. This follows a four per cent YoY contraction in October.

Import and export data, which lag production data, show cement imports rebounded strongly in October, rising 51 per cent YoY to 247,230t, with a total CIF value of EUR21m (US$21.72) or EUR85/t. Cement exports also expanded robustly, increasing 24 per cent YoY to 176,963t in October, with a total FOB value of EUR16.6m or EUR94/t.

January-November 2024

Cement output rose one per cent YoY in the first eleven months of 2024. This follows a four per cent YoY contraction recorded in the same period of 2023.

Cement imports rose 38.4 per cent YoY in the first eleven months of 2024, coming in at 2.126Mt, up from 1.725Mt in the same period of 2023.  Exports were down 2.1 per cent YoY in January-November 2024, coming in at 1.320Mt, down from 1.475Mt in the same period of 2023.

Italian construction production shrank one per cent YoY in January-November 2024, according to Federbeton. Construction also contracted one per cent YoY in the same period of 2023.
