Tulsa County commissioners were expected to make a decision Monday about whether to allow a business to build a cement plant next to a neighborhood in west Tulsa.

The controversy stems from a vacant lot. Before the meeting started Monday morning, the owner of the proposed facility, requested the item be pulled from the agenda.

Tulsa Dynaspan had wanted to change the zoning to industrial, and put in the cement plant.

That request was denied by the Tulsa County planning commission this past summer.
Supporters say the plant would have brought much-needed jobs to Tulsa, but local residents say they’re worried about dust, noise and safety issues heavy machinery would bring to their neighborhood.
