Portuguese cement maker Cimentos de Portugal SA, or Cimpor, said Thursday it will invest €240m in Brazil by 2013 to increase its annual cement production capacity in the South American country to 8.8Mt from 6.5Mt.

In a presentation sent to the Portuguese stock market regulator, the company said it will invest €160m in a new facility in the Brazilian state of Paraiba, which will have a cement production capacity of 1.45Mta. And it will use €80m to boost its production capacity at its Cezarina plant in the Goias state, to 2.1Mta.

Construction works at both facilities will begin in 2011 and end in 2013.
