Vietnam cement sales will reach 4Mn December, up 10%-12% on-year, bringing the total figure to 40-41Mt in 2008, according to the Ministry of Construction.

Cement sales reached 35.6Mt in the first 11 months, representing 89.1% of the yearly target, the ministry said.

In the 11-month period, clinker imports were reported at 3.2Mt, representing 91.4% of the year’s target.

The ministry said earlier that Vietnam will export cement from 2010 as the country is forecast to see oversupply of 5Mt by the year.
