ABB India has been awarded a Rs 311 crore order to provide power, automation products and systems to Ultratech Cement, part of Aditya Birla Group, for its cement capacity expansion.  
 
Under the order, the company would provide turnkey electrical and automation systems, including installation of 220/132kV switch yards and supply of switch gears, motors, low and medium voltage drives, power and distribution transformers and intelligent LV panels, which is expected to complete by end of 2007.  
 
ABB solutions would serve two cement plants, being set up by Grasim, which includes a new facility at Kotputli, expansion at Shambhupura and two new grinding units at Panipat and Dadri, ABB said in a statement. 
 
It would also facilitate the operations of the plant expansion at Ultratech Tadipatri Cement as well as grinding unit at Ginegra and three captive power plants of two 25 MW units each at Kotputli, Shambhupura and Tadipatri.  
 
"ABB solutions will bring significant improvements in energy efficiency and productivity, enhancing competitiveness as the Indian industry rises to meet global standards," ABB Vice Chairman and Managing Director Ravi Uppal said.
