Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) production capacity is expected to reach a total of 7000tpd cement by the end of this year when the new unit currently being assembled goes on stream in October, QNCC Chairman of the board Salem bin Butti Al Noeimi said recently. Al Noeimi told reporters during a field visit of the cement factory, that 80 per cent of the works on the unit being assembled has been completed and that once completed it would increase the plant’s production capacity by 3000tpd. He added that all the new units of the plant would be completed before October next year and the factory would start production at full capacity.
However, currently between 3000t to 4000t of cement were being imported in the country to meet the requirements of the market, he said, adding that the increase in demand for cement worldwide has made it increasingly difficult for the supply to reach its destination from producing countries on time due to insufficient number of transport vessels.
