Cement sales are slowly recovering in Switzerland. Deliveries rose 0.7 per cent YoY to 792,266t in the first quarter of 2025, up from 786,433t in the same quarter of 2024. Cement sales contracted 4.6 per cent YoY in 2024.
 
Low-carbon cement types accounted for 97.6 per cent of deliveries in the first quarter of 2025, up from 96.6 per cent of deliveries in the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, cement transported by rail accounted for 36.3 per cent of deliveries, down marginally from 38.2 per cent. Bulk sales account for 97 per cent of deliveries and bagged sales three per cent.
 
Cemsuisse notes lower interest rates and increased residential building applications are helping lift the outlook for construction. However, economic uncertainty is a lingering concern.
